Say What! 090415

I heard this around 0815 on 760 AM. It wasn't the regular talker who I believe is Jay Marvin. The lady's name was Ann. She was speaking about today's Tea Party demonstrations (she referred to them as Tea Bagging Parties) Approximate quote. The second half is verbatim. "I think they should have their say. I guess it's better than shooting people up." "Oh, that was snide, I shouldn't have said that." Snide reallly? that's all? The left's low dialogue on the right has no minimum standards. The right is, of course, composed of nearly deranged criminals.

For My First Trick

Watch Obama pull a rabbit out of his hat.
This cartoon made me laugh. http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/assets_c/2009/04/toon041409.php
From what I've read, Gates is doing a good job and making hard decisions. I applaud the Obama Administration for it's leadership in this difficult but essential decision making on use of a limited budget for defense. Anyone who has worked with government and the military knows of the waste and abuse that are ever present. I hope this has repercussions that will drive weapons acquisition programs to be more responsible in delivering increased bang for the buck. Money is (and always has been) an object(restriction).
Now, I wish the rest of the government agencies could show the restraint and leadership that the DOD is displaying. An across the board program cut of 3-5% would be a great gesture on all departments behalf. Find the waste. You know it's there.

Shift to Politics

OK, I can't resist blogging. I'd like to use it at least as a journal of my thoughts on the issues which capture my attention on a daily basis.
I follow several key opinion sources on the news, among them, Powerline Blog, the Dennis Prager Radio show, and an e-mailed Dispatch from an intelligent and thoughtful ex-military man named Greg Johnson. Generally, my topics and thoughts will be derived from these sources and I will attempt to cite them appropriately.
I consider this writing practice and a learning experience to see exactly how this medium works.
